5G Registration

A user/UE needs to register with the network to receive services, to enable mobility tracking and reachability.

Registration procedure is performed in the following scenarios :

- Initial Registration to the 5GS (when device is switched ON)
- Mobility Registration Update (when device moves to new Tracking Area)
- Periodic Registration Update (due to a predefined time period of inactivity)
- Emergency Registration Update (for emergency services)

Below is the procedure depicted for Initial registration.
