Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) – 4G/5G Network
To ensure that best in class services are being provided to the users, it is imperative to measure key performance indicators from network perspective. These indicators also help to analyze the network health & performance and to ensure that available resources in the network are utilized efficiently.
• Accessibility – It is used to measure whether users are able to access the network and obtain the service efficiently or not.
It can be analyzed through Paging, RACH, RRC & ERAB success rate.
• Retainability – It is used to measure whether users once obtain the service are continued to avail those services for specific period of time.
It can be analyzed through RRC & ERAB retainability (drops).
• Mobility – It is used to ensure seamless service whilst movement of users across network (same/different technologies).
It can be analyzed in idle & connected mode through cell reselection & handovers success rate respectively.
• Integrity – It is used to ensure that best quality services are provided to users without impairments.
It can be analyzed through throughput (data rates), latency (delay) statistics.
• Availability – It is used to ensure that network is available for customers to use almost all the times.
It can be analyzed through uptime of the network (all nodes – RAN, Transport & Core).
Note – There are other KPIs too, but here captured only the important ones. These individual KPIs are captured detail in the complete course on KPIs.
